What is IOT ? IoT Explained

Internet Of Things

The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to a system of interrelated, internet-connected objects that are able to collect and transfer data over a wireless network without human intervention. An IoT system consists of sensors/devices which “talk” to the cloud through some kind of connectivity the need for the user.

Smart meters, commercial security systems and smart city technologies -- such as those used to monitor traffic and weather conditions -- are examples of industrial and enterprise IoT devices. The main purpose of IoT devices is to generate real-time data that we can then analyze and use to create desired business outcomes. The future of IoT has the potential to be limitless.

Main Parts of IoT
The Basic Elements of IoT
  • Connected devices.
  • Central Control Hardware.
  • Data Cloud.

  • User interface.

  • Network Interconnection. In computing terms, interconnection networks provide connections between the different components of the interconnection mechanism. The network has processing elements or nodes, or PEs, that are at one end of the network and memory elements or nodes, or MEs, at the other end.

  • System Security. System security includes the development and implementation of security countermeasures. These include firewalls, data encryption, passwords and biometrics

  • Data Analytics.

Applications

  • Consumer applications
  • A Ring doorbell connected to the Internet
  • Smart home
  • Elder care
  • Medical and healthcare
  • Commercial application

Intelligence

Ambient intelligence don't necessarily requires internet structures. Objects as the driving force for autonomous IoT.Ambient intelligence is an emerging discipline that brings intelligence to our everyday environments and makes those environments sensitive to us.
